     Wanted

Bloomin' Paper launched its first range of greeting cards at the Auckland Gift Fair in March 2008.

Our range is very unique as each greeting card contains flower-seed embedded paper. Literally a 'gift' within the card. When removed from the card and planted, wildflowers grow, blooming year after year reminding the recipient of the gift.   Click here to see cards ...

We are keen to continue launching new card designs regularly that have a handdrawn/painted look, while also being contemporary and fresh. We are inviting freelance artists to submit work to be considered as greeting card designs.

What's in it for you?   We want to build long and rewarding relationships with artists, and a publishing licence between the artist and Bloomin' Paper has been drawn up to offer protection and reassurance to both parties.

We pay NZ$400 (four hundred dollars) for the exclusive world rights to a design as a greeting card image for a period of 3 years. You retain the copyright at all times and, therefore, the right to sell the image under a separate licence. You may not resell the design or anything identifiably similar to another card publisher during the period of our licence. The physical artwork remains your property at all times.

We will always credit the artist on our website.  (with your permission)

What we are looking for

  • fun, contemporary and fine art work
  • acrylics and watercolours, oils and pastels
  • designs that reproduce well as a flat, one dimensional image
designs that can incorporate our seeded paper

NB:  Our greeting cards always have flower seed-embedded paper included in them. For our first range the seeded paper was included into the front of the greeting cards, and the designs worked around this.   However, other ideas on incorporating the seeded paper into card designs would be considered.

What we are not interested in

  • work based on licenced characters
  • religious images or texts, except Christmas
  • horoscopes
  • surrealism
  • children's drawings
  • erotica and/or nude studies
  • crude humour
  • local culture or national costumes
  • people or animal portraits
  • architectural drawings of buildings and cities
  • photography
  • food
  • computer generated images

What to do now?
